Back pain
Back pain is one of the most widespread ailments in civilized world. Research indicates that about 80 percent of population of the developed world has experienced back pain at least once in their lifetime. It is the reason why many have to go see a doctor and take dangerous pharmaceuticals.
Opiates, or Cannabinoids?
Almost everybody who goes has to see a doctor with back pain is given opiates-based painkillers. However, many patients become addicted, which may lead to a total breakdown of their lives, and, more and more often, to death due to overdose.
Cannabis!
Recent research by a medical clinic specializing in spine injuries at Colorado University focused on 200 patients suffering from degenerative changes of intervertebral discs and similar problems. 89 percent of patients who were using cannabis during the treatment claimed that they have experienced “a significant or at least medium relief from pain”, while 81 said that “the effect was the same or even better than that of other medicaments”. It is worth noting that this group was receiving cannabis “less than twice a day”.
Expert’s Opinion
Dr. Rachna Patel, an American expert on cannabis treatment of back pain, says: “Countless patients suffer from back pain due to degenerative changes of intervertebral discs. Cannabis either numbs the pain, or even suppresses it completely. Thanks to this plant, many patients can do daily activities – driving, computer work or travelling longer distances. Cannabis also helps them get rid of insomnia, which commonly accompanies severe pain. The biggest surprise for me were some patients who managed to completely quit their prescription medicines and control their back pain solely with cannabis.”
