The Fight for Medical Marijuana Regulations and Legalization in California and the USA

Access to medical marijuana is still problematic in California. Cities like San Jose, San Diego and Los Angles are still fighting both for legalization and access to medical marijuana. City officials and law enforcement representatives use the same old rhetoric such as “It will endanger our kids” and “Cannabis stores increase crime”. In spite of the opposition, millions of dollars are being invested in the “canna-businesses”. What it's like to run a ”canna-business“ in California, along with where the opposition propaganda is coming from, who is spreading this bad information, and why they are doing—all of these issues will be discussed.
Five years ago Dave Hodges started the first storefront medical marijuana “Collective” in San Jose, California. His goal was to provide access to medical marijuana in San Jose and to push for legalization statewide. Dave has been involved in local medical marijuana initiatives, state-wide legalization initiatives, and both criminal and civil court cases related to medical marijuana in California.
The battle in California is far from over. The lessons learned help shed light on the “war on drugs” (marijuana and others) both in California and throughout the United States.
